RESPONDING TO A CHILD

Listen. Record.
Report. Support.

When a child shares a concern, our role is to listen, reassure them and take the correct action.

Schoolz Out staff do not investigate safeguarding disclosures themselves. Concerns are recorded accurately and passed through the correct safeguarding process.

Our role is not to investigate. Our role is to respond appropriately and protect the child.

Staff Should

  • Stay calm
  • Listen carefully
  • Allow the child to speak freely
  • Reassure them
  • Explain what happens next
  • Record information accurately
  • Report concerns promptly

Staff Should Not

  • Promise confidentiality
  • Ask leading questions
  • Investigate themselves
  • Challenge the child's account
  • Share information unnecessarily
  • Delay reporting concerns
A CULTURE OF SAFEGUARDING

Speak Up.
Act Safely.

Schoolz Out promotes an open culture where concerns about children, staff or working practices can be raised and managed appropriately.

01

Report Concerns

Staff have a responsibility to report safeguarding concerns and unsafe practice promptly, share information appropriately and maintain confidentiality.

02

Adult Conduct

Concerns about the behaviour of an adult working with children are taken seriously, recorded accurately and managed through the appropriate safeguarding procedures.

03

Speaking Up

Team members are encouraged to speak up without delay when they have concerns. Creating an open culture helps protect children from harm.
