EARLY MOVEMENT MATTERS

They're Not Small PE Lessons.
They're Big Opportunities.

Young children learn by doing. Running, balancing, throwing, catching, jumping, exploring and playing all give children opportunities to understand their bodies and the world around them.

That's why our nursery sessions are built around purposeful play. Children experience movement through stories, games, challenges and imaginative activities designed to make participation feel exciting.

THE SCHOOLZ OUT APPROACH Development hidden
inside the fun.

The children experience an adventure. Behind it, our coaches are creating opportunities to move, listen, communicate, practise, solve problems and grow in confidence.

PURPOSEFUL PLAY

Lots of Fun.
Plenty Happening Underneath.

Sessions can combine different types of activity so children experience a broad range of movement, play and interaction rather than repeating the same task.

Movement Adventures

Running, jumping, changing direction and moving in different ways through imaginative games and playful challenges.

Balance & Coordination

Activities that challenge children to control their bodies, balance, move through spaces and coordinate different movements.

Throwing & Catching

Simple activities using age-appropriate equipment to explore rolling, throwing, catching and basic object control.

Imaginative Play

Stories and themes turn movement into adventures, helping children become absorbed in the activity rather than focused on practising a skill.

Games Together

Simple shared activities create opportunities to listen, take turns, cooperate and enjoy being active with others.

+

Little Challenges

Achievable challenges encourage children to experiment, practise and experience the satisfaction of doing something they couldn't do before.

DEVELOPMENT THROUGH MOVEMENT

Moving Their Bodies.
Developing So Much More.

Physical activity gives young children opportunities to develop skills that reach beyond movement itself.

01

Physical Development

Opportunities to practise fundamental movements, coordination, balance and control through age-appropriate activity.

02

Confidence

Trying, practising and succeeding helps children become more comfortable exploring what they are capable of doing.

03

Communication

Games create natural opportunities to listen, follow simple instructions, communicate and interact with other children.

04

Social Development

Shared activities help children experience turn-taking, cooperation and participating as part of a group.

WHAT WE WANT CHILDREN TO EXPERIENCE

Play. Explore.
Learn. Grow.

The goal isn't to create the best three-year-old footballer. It's to help children develop positive early experiences of movement, activity and learning through play.

MOVE

Discover different ways their bodies can move and begin building strong foundations for future physical activity.

EXPLORE

Experiment with movements, equipment, spaces and challenges in a positive and supportive environment.

ENJOY

Build positive associations with movement by making activity something children are excited to take part in.

GROW

Develop confidence, independence and social skills through achievable challenges and shared experiences.

BUILT FOR LITTLE LEARNERS

Meet Them
Where They Are.

Nursery-aged children develop at different rates. A session needs enough structure to have purpose while remaining flexible enough to respond to the children taking part.

Keep Them Moving

Activities are designed to minimise unnecessary waiting and create lots of opportunities to participate.

Keep It Simple

Clear instructions and achievable activities help young children understand what they're being asked to do.

Use Imagination

Stories, characters and adventures can turn a simple movement into something children want to repeat.

Celebrate Trying

Success isn't only getting something right. We encourage children to participate, experiment and keep trying.

Make It Enjoyable

Positive early experiences can help children develop an enthusiasm for movement that extends beyond the session.

A SCHOOLZ OUT SESSION

From Hello
to High Five.

Sessions can vary depending on the age group and setting, but the experience is built around helping children feel comfortable, involved and successful.

01

Welcome & Warm Up

A positive start helps children settle into the session, understand the space and begin moving straight away.

02

Explore & Discover

Children experience movements, equipment and simple challenges through playful activities and exploration.

03

Adventure & Play

Skills are brought into games, stories and imaginative activities where children can use what they've been exploring.

04

Finish Feeling Great

We finish positively, celebrating participation and helping children leave the session feeling proud of what they've done.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A Few Things
You Might Ask.

What do children do during a nursery session? +

Sessions can include movement games, imaginative activities, balance and coordination challenges, throwing and catching, simple group games and other age-appropriate activities. The exact content can vary depending on the children and setting.

Are the sessions just focused on sport? +

No. The focus is broader than learning a particular sport. Sessions use movement and purposeful play to give children opportunities to develop physical skills, confidence, communication and positive experiences of being active.

Can sessions be adapted for different ages? +

Yes. Young children develop at different rates, so activities, instructions and challenges can be adjusted around the age and developmental stage of the children taking part.

Do we need a large outdoor space? +

Not necessarily. We can discuss the indoor and outdoor spaces available within your setting and plan suitable activities around the environment you have.

Can you provide regular weekly sessions? +

Yes. Regular provision can be discussed around your timetable, age groups and requirements. We can explore the most suitable structure during your initial conversation with Schoolz Out.

How do we get started? +

Start with a conversation. Tell us about your setting, children, available space and what you'd like the provision to achieve. We can then discuss what a Schoolz Out nursery programme could look like for you.
